Oh whatup Beebs?!?! How cool is it to interview and photograph a living, breathing comic book? I had the chance to hang out with Beebs and Her Money Makers down at Nerdapalooza and chat them up about the festival and what not. These guys are kinda rad and total nerds in their own right, with a bass player who is an electrical engineer with a robotics background, how can you not be.
What’s life like with Beebs and Her Money Makers?: I have the most fun ever. We just have so much fun playing together. You can’t fake an energy. You can’t fake how you click with the other members and thats how you can tell you love it. So when we’re on stage we really are just having the best time ever just playing and laughing together. Our fans are really into it and that makes me so much more into it. It gives us a good understanding of how bands like George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic were able to function just being so nuts on stage. It’s really the more fun you have playing and the more open you are, and for lack of a better word ‘reckless’ with your creativity, you just blow peoples minds.
How did you guys get involved with the Nerd music scene?: We kinda just found out about this scene are we’re very into it. I’m pumped and the coolest part is how comfortable everyone is with themselves. You might be a little nerdy, a little weird or whatever, but you’re owning it. We need nerds to reach our full potential!!! But really, we’re not the kind of people who sit around all day and say ‘oh we’re in a band.’ We’re out there everyday trying to improve and make out act better and our sound better. It’s just that much fun.
What would you like to see at Nerdapalooza in the future?: I hope next year that it’s 5 days long and that there are more stormtroopers. Maybe MC Chris will show up as a stormtrooper.
